Last Month's Meeting
Although not as well attended as the previous 2 meetings, the May
meeting had a decent turn out. But whether you have 2 or 20, whenever
good friends are gathered around a warm briar, it's always a good time.
The July Meeting is schedule for Tuesday, July 5th at 7:00PM. We
look forward to seeing you there.
Bob Kiess came to his last meeting before making his move
to Vermont. He passed along his thanks to all and shared with us how much
he enjoyed being a member of the Sherlock Holmes Pipe Club. We'll miss
ya Bob, good luck in VT.
The United Pipe Clubs of America - UPCA
As
mentioned in last month's newsletter, we are now proud members of the
United Pipe Clubs of America. Bob Kiess was unable to attend the annual
meeting at the Chicago show this past May but he was able to get a copy
of the meeting's minutes. You can view a copy of the minutes in pdf format
by clicking here.
If you'd like to find out more about the UPCA you can visit their website
at http://www.unitedpipeclubs.org.
What's in store for the July Meeting?
Lots of pipe smoking pretty much. No events or guest speakers are
planned for the July meeting just lots of tobacco sampling. This month
we have two boxes of tobacco available for your approval so come on down
and give'm a try.
Ted Blank recently returned from beautiful "smoke
free" Santa Monica, Ca. where smoking is banned pretty much everywhere
including the beach, parks and bus stops. He will provided us with a full
account of his visit and trips to local pipe shops at this coming meeting.
Smokers Haven Tobacco Tasting - Phase 4
The
last phase of the Smoker's Haven tobacco sampling is upon us. This month
we will have an opportunity to try their Krumble Kake blend.
We'd like to thank Premal Cheda of Smoker's Haven for this generous donation
of tobacco to our favorite pastime. If you found any of their blends particularly
enjoyable, be sure to purchase a few tins from their website
or at the next pipe show you attend.

10 great cigars and why I smoked them
By Mike S. Adams - June 13, 2005
For years, communism has been preventing me from enjoying
a lot of good cigars. That used to bother me, until I found a way
around the problem. As many of my readers know, there are more communists
teaching on the average American campus than there are teaching
in all of Cuba. And, of course, these communist professors do a
lot of stupid things, most of which violate the United States Constitution.

NO SCIENTIFIC PROOF THAT SMOKING CAUSES CANCER:
Finally the truth comes out
June 3 - There is no scientifically proven causality between
active smoking and lung cancer. Rather, the preponderance of the
scientific evidence seems to lean towards improbability.

This
Month's Tobacco Raffle
We have the following blends for this
month's raffle.
New from McLelland Tobacco
Tawny
Flake
Little, elegant flue cured Virginia Flakes, redolent with sun-dappled
sweetness, and pleasantly tangy. This skillfully blended tobacco,
mellowed with Blakeney's exclusive toasting process, fills the pipe
with pleasure.
Butera's
Kingfisher
A distinctive combination of zesty lemon Virginia, Burley, and Perique.
All whole leaf is layered together then pressed in cakes until the
blend of whole leaf are perfectly matured. Cut and spun to ribbon
form, the ribbon is then pressed into cakes for a second time (Double
Cut). Then we cut the cake into flake form and packaged in 2 oz
tins achieving an even more exquisite finish as time passes. A light,
sweet, mellow smoke, subtle and complex, with a flavor curve ranging
from lightly zesty through richly satisfying.
