that time of year again. Our December meeting where we celebrate
the season with our good friends and show our appreciation for those
who helped support the club throughout the year. The meeting, as
has been the tradition, will be at the Massapaug Sportsman's Club
in Sharon which is always a nice change of pace and provides a more
rustic atmosphere that seems to blend well with the holiday festivities.
.We'll have pizza from Stone Lovin' Pizza, a tobacco giveaway and
a raffle (see raffle prizes below). There is a pool table and dart
board and some of us may even play with firearms. Soft drinks will
also be provided but feel free to being an alcoholic beverage for
yourself or to share (but not if you're playing with firearms).
We've already got the head count for food so we look forward to
seeing you all there.
Since we have the $200 prize for the SHPC Club Card this year we
had to cut back on the raffle prizes a little. But I think what
we have will be to most people's liking. Raffle tickets will be
$10 each and you can buy a maximum of 3. Here's what he have for
this year's raffle prizes.

The 2015 SHPC Club Card Winner !!!!! You probably remember hearing the name Kevin
mentioned a few times in previous editions of the Gazette along
with the state of Rhode Island. Well there is a good reason for
that. The reason is Tom Nyzio who use to be our resident Rhode Islander.
If it wasn't for Tom we never would have met Kevin, also from Rhode
Island and if it wasn't for Kevin we never would have met Mike P.,
Joe, Carl, Yaakov, Rick, Dennis, Eric, Felix, and Mike C. All, also
from Rhode Island.
By rights the 2015 SHPC Club Card prize of $200 should go to Tom
since if it wasn't for him our census would be considerably lower.
But if you watch this short video below, it might give you an idea
why Kevin Catanzaro has become our first SHPC Club Card winner.
Don't let the name fool you, this is Kevin.
Seriously though, members are what keep a club like ours thriving
and we truly appreciate Tom introducing us to Kevin. But Kevin was
like the gift that kept on giving. There weren't many meetings where
Kevin didn't bring in at least on new guy and often times more.
Although we only saw some of them once or twice, hopefully in 2016
more of them will become regulars at our monthly meetings. Thanks
Kevin for helping to make the Sherlock Holmes Pipe Club stronger
and congratulations on becoming our first SHPC Club Card winner!!!!.
Who will it be next year??
Enemy - A short story by Ernie
the Intro.... Hitler’s hidden diamonds and gold were allocated
to fund a secret organization. It was a terrorist group known as
Werwolf (Werewolf) who would disrupt and confuse the Allied occupation,
and planned to overthrow the Allies, and then carry the fight to
the East and Soviet Russia.
Chapter 3 ... “Are you Mr. Clancy” the bartender asked
with a tap to Ian’s shoulder? Clancy popped to the present
with a start and spun the bar stool toward the question. The telephone
was in his face where the bartender held it at arms length. He took
it, thanked him, set his pipe in the ashtray and spun the stool
to the window again.

All at home with no place to go,
Just as I like it, quiet and slow.

- The Snowman
In Europe and North America, snowmen are built with three
spheres depicting the head, torso, and lower body. The usual
practice is to then decorate and optionally dress the snowman.
Sticks can be used for arms, and a face is traditionally made
with stones or coal for eyes and a carrot for a nose. Some
like to dress their snowmen in clothing such as a scarf or
hat, while others prefer not to risk leaving supplies out
doors where they could easily be stolen or become stuck under
There are variations to these standard forms; for instance,
the popular song "Frosty the Snowman" describes
a snowman being decorated with a "corncob pipe",
button nose, coal eyes and an old silk hat (usually depicted
as a top hat). These other types range from snow columns to
elaborate snow sculptures similar to ice sculptures.
Documentation of the first snowman is unclear. However, Bob
Eckstein, author of The History of the Snowman documented
snowmen from medieval times, by researching artistic depictions
in European museums, art galleries, and libraries. The earliest
documentation he found was a marginal illustration from a
work titled Book of Hours from 1380, found in Koninklijke
Bibliotheek, in The Hague. (read
