Details of the November Meeting
There's not too much to report from the November meeting. It was
pretty much business as usual at both CB Perkins and at the meeting.
Unfortunately though, We have been experiencing a slight decline
in the number of members who have been able to make it to a meeting.
It was nice having 18-20 people show up to liven things up a bit.
We miss you guys and we'd like to see you more often..
The 2011 Club Pipe
2011
is almost over and we still don't have this year's club pipe.
Well fear not, I hear it from a reliable source that there is
an excellent chance that they will be here in time for the December
meeting. We have received word from the folks at Mastro Beraldi
that the pipes are done and waiting to ship once the payment goes
through, which should have happened by the time you read this.
I'd like to thank Mike again for volunteering to help procure
this year's pipe and seeing the process through to the end. Shown
here are few shots of our pipes being made and the master who
made them.

What's Up with Derek?
For
those of you who were not aware, Derek has been laid up for over
a month recuperating from some needed surgery. I just got off
the phone with him and he's walking with a cane again but still
not 100%. He attempted to return to work but found out it was
still a bit too soon so he's resting again while he directs people
to rebuild the engine in his Model A. We probably won't see him
at the December meeting but he is still hoping to make it to Kaywoodie.
Derek, we all send our well wishes and hope to see you back soon.
So What's Going on in December?
We always look forward to getting together the first Tuesday of
each month but there is a bit more anticipation when December
rolls around, particularly our visit to the holiday party and
Northeast Regional Smoking Contest at S. M Frank
and Co., home of Kaywoodie pipes. Although a very long day, this
event is not to be missed and a great way to end our pipe smoking
year.
Pipe Raffle
Last year we started a tradition that we hope will continue for
many years to come. With the proceeds from our SHPC Tobacco Blends,
available at pipesandcigars.com, we can supplement the cost of
a few pipes to raffle off. This year, tickets will be $10 each
and you can buy a maximum of 3.
Here are the pipes we will raffle off.

Tobacco Raffle
We will also continue our recent tradition of the Tobacco Free
Raffle. No, this doesn't mean there is no tobacco to raffle off,
it means the raffle is free. Just a way to say thanks to everyone
who participated in the raffle all year. Details on the right.
We look forward to seeing all of you this month.
Do You Want to be Part of SHPC?

Although
membership continues to grow slowly, we're always looking for more
people to share this great hobby with. I know there are still many
of you still out there who have seen this site but have not yet
made the leap to contact us or you have contacted us but haven't
yet made it to a meeting.
A
re you one of these people? Are you over the age
of 18? Do you smoke a pipe alone often? Would you like to share
your passion for the pipe with others like you? Do you ever see
someone smoking a pipe and wonder what it's all about? Have you
tried smoking a pipe but had trouble keeping it lit, had your tongue
burned or just weren't sure what you were doing?
We can
help with all of that. At SHPC you can sit back and relax
with like minded individuals and share the passion (but not the
addiction) of the pipe. We can help you pack, light and smoke your
pipe correctly and introduce you to new tobaccos and new pipe makers
that can change your whole outlook on pipe smoking.
He who hesitates is lost so don't procrastinate. I
knew about SHPC but waited 2 years to connect with them and wasted
2 good years of pipe smoking freedom before all hell broke loose
with the anti-smoking movement.
If you'd like to join us make it your 2012 new
year's resolution. You don't need to make a commitment, just stop
by and check things out. The easiest way to connect with us is to
meet up with us at
C.B. Perkins at Cobb's Corner in Canton
between 5 PM and 6 PM. Ask anyone in the smoke
ring there and you'll be directed to an SHPC member if you haven't
already found one. We eat dinner from 6 PM - 7 PM then off to the
meeting which usually ends around 9:30 PM. You can participate in
whichever of these activities you like and can come as often or
as little as you like (but we'd like you to be a regular). If you
are new to pipe smoking or an old timer, we don't think you'll be
disappointed. If you can't make it to CB Perkins but want more information
please feel free to
send us
an email. We look forward to seeing you in 2012
